About me
Since 2015, Gregg Thomas has been the Environmental Quality Division Director in the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE). This division of 43 scientists and engineers is responsible for ensuring clean air, land, and water, minimizing the city’s environmental risk and liability, and furthering environmental initiatives across the city, in partnership with other city departments. Gregg’s team also oversees contract operations at the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site, or DADS landfill, and is also a partner in implementing Denver’s Solid Waste Master Plan.
Gregg has been with DDPHE for 25 years and started as an air quality specialist and has managed several sections within EQ from 2005-2014. Gregg has a Bachelors degree in Meteorology from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from Montana Technological University.
Gregg also serves as Board Chair on the Air and waste Management Association – Rocky Mountain States Section, and in June of 2024 was appointed by Governor Polis to be on the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission. Gregg is also a DDPHE representative on the Colorado Directors of Environmental Health.
